October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 18th, 2011

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and different organizations are doing their part to raise awareness and encourage education among both women and men. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, aside from skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States each year. Approximately 1,910 new cases are expected in men. The ACS also reports that there were an estimated 40,610 breast cancer deaths in 2009 (40,170 women, 440 men). *
In order to better educate women and men on prevention, detection, and diagnosis, St. John’s Hospital and the American Cancer Association is hosting a free two day lecture made possible through a grant from The Harold McAlister Charitable Foundation. The Second Annual Pink Ribbon Lecture will be held at the Santa Monica Public Library Auditorium on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 and Thursday, October 20, 2011.
Jacqui White, Assistant Vice President and St. John’s Hospital Volunteer will be assisting in the organization of this week’s event. “By staying informed, we can save a life. I am looking forward to listening to the different doctors on the panel who will discuss everything from prevention to surgery,” says Jacqui.
Advanced reservations are required. Call 310-829-8453

Tenant in the Spotlight: Johnathan Razbannia

October 12th, 2011

We are excited to announce that one of our Encino tenants, Johnathan Razbannia, President of JMR Holdings, will be on radio station 670AM on October 17, 2011 to share insightful information regarding property tax reassessments. JMR Holdings provides an array of services that compliment developers needs, such as assistance with obtaining entitlements for subdivision of land, as well as providing reassessment services for properties that have been incorrectly assessed resulting in higher property tax payments.
Reassessments are accomplished through the evaluation of property taxes for the fiscal year to verify if there would be any merit for a reassessment of the property taxes. This applies to a single-family residence, multi-family residence, commercial, and vacant land parcels purchased in 2002 to the Present. In some instances, JMR Holdings has been able to date back as far as four years in obtaining refunds on tax bills. In fact, JMR Holdings recently had a successful outcome in which the assessment of a new construction project totaling 9.2 million was reduced to 7.5 million, resulting in a total savings of $50,000.
The Property tax reassessment deadline for 2011 is November 30th, so if you would like to inquire about how to possibly reduce your taxes please contact the office of JMR Holdings for a free consultation at (818) 201-0441 or contact him via email at jrazbannia@jmrlanduse.com. Visit his firm on the web at www.jmrlanduse.com.

Please remember to tune in to radio station 670AM on Monday, October 17th from 1:30-2:00PM for some timely information relating to property tax reassessment and a potential tax savings opportunity!

Putting the FUN in Fundraising

September 9th, 2011

Barrister Executive Suites, Inc. is gearing up for the 25th Annual Los Angeles Broker Challenge.  The Los Angeles Broker Challenge is an all day event at a private beach club in Santa Monica where teams compete in various beach games including volleyball and basketball.  The day ends with an awards ceremony, dinner, live auction, and raffle.  The funds raised from the event will go to Family Service of Santa Monica, a division of Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services.  Family Service provides a range of services to children and adults who are struggling with emotional, social and economic issues to help those in need lead self reliant, stable and productive lives.

Barrister will be donating a brand new beach cruiser to the raffle this year and some of our Sales staff will attend the dinner.

“This event is a fun way for us at Barrister Executive Suites, Inc. to do our part in helping such a deserving organization.  We can set aside our everyday worries and have fun playing games, while at the same time gaining perspective on how lucky we are to be able to enjoy such things.   The money raised for the event is appreciated, however I think more important than the money is the opening up of a person’s eyes to the idea of charity and how fulfilling it can be,” says Derek Otte, Sales and Marketing Manager.

For more information on purchasing raffle tickets or attending the event, contact Airley Ogilvie at 310-917-1000 or aogilvie@barrister-suites.com
